  • PROJECT.JSONxxxxx.TMP (your actual project data)
  • Open both files in Visual Studio Code or Notepad++.
  • Copy the content from the .TMP file and paste it inside the PROJECT.JSON brackets [ ].
  • Save the file (Ctrl + S), then restart Paint 3D — your project should reappear.

If Paint 3D says “Couldn’t create the project”, the app might be corrupted.

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Paint 3D → Advanced Options → Reset.
